The Rasa Collection

The Rasa Collection

There is a word in Sanskrit that has no clean translation in English. Rasa. Roughly, it means feeling, mood, the emotional essence of a moment. But more than that, rasa is the energy that lingers after someone has left a room. It is the thing you cannot quite name about a person, but you feel it entirely. It is presence. It is heat. It is the quiet pull of someone who is deeply, unapologetically themselves.

The Rasa Collection is Sona Beauty's debut launch, and it begins there, with that feeling.

This is not a lip collection designed around trends or seasonal palettes. It is a collection designed around emotional states, three of them, each one corresponding to a different expression of modern femininity: warmth, intimacy, and presence. In a beauty industry that has historically asked women of color to fit themselves into somebody else's idea of wearable color, Sona was built to do the opposite. The Rasa Collection exists as an invitation to go deeper into the version of yourself that has always been there, waiting underneath the shrinking.

The Formula Behind the Feeling

Before we get into the emotional world of each shade, it is worth understanding what sits inside every Lip Silk. Because at Sona, the formula is never an afterthought.

Each Lip Silk is a peptide-powered lip tint designed to deliver high-pigment color while actively caring for the lips beneath it. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 works to visibly support the skin's natural resilience, while sodium hyaluronate is designed to help lock in moisture for lips that appear soft and supple throughout wear. Shea butter and jojoba oil lend a smooth, nourishing texture that feels comfortable from the first swipe, and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E) rounds out the formula with antioxidant care.

The finish is glossy and buildable. The feel is lightweight and smooth, never heavy, never sticky. And the pigments were formulated from the very first iteration with deeper skin tones in mind, meaning the color you see in the tube is the color that is designed to show up for you, not merely survive on you.

Cruelty-free. Paraben-free. Vegan.

Garmi: Heat and Magnetism

Heat. Magnetism. Warmth you cannot ignore.

Garmi is named after the Urdu and Hindi word for heat, and it earns that name. This is the shade that captures a very specific kind of energy: someone who shifts a room simply by entering it. Not through volume or performance, but through an undeniable warmth that draws people in without asking for anything in return.

Visually, Garmi was inspired by the imagery of late summer, amber light falling on warm skin, gold jewelry catching the sun, the particular kind of eye contact that lingers a moment longer than expected. It is a brown-toned shade designed to enhance and deepen the natural lip tone on deeper complexions, adding dimension and warmth rather than competing with the skin.

When you wear Garmi, you are not putting on a color. You are stepping into an energy. The energy of someone who is confident in their own heat, who is magnetic without trying, who moves through the world knowing that their presence is already enough.

Ishq: Love and Tenderness

Love. Softness. The tenderness of being fully seen.

There is a kind of softness that is often misread as weakness, but Ishq is not interested in that misreading. Ishq, the Urdu and Persian word for love and devotion, represents intentional softness: the kind that requires courage. The kind that exists only when you have allowed yourself to be fully present and fully seen.

This shade was inspired by the textures and imagery of deep intimacy, candlelight, silk, handwritten notes, the particular quiet of a moment you want to hold onto. It is a pink-toned Lip Silk designed to bring a soft luminosity to the lips, flattering across complexions while reading as something personal, romantic, and deeply wearable.

Ishq is for the version of you that does not need armor. It is for tenderness expressed with intention, for connection worn on the lips like a quiet declaration.

Jalwa: Presence and Power

Presence. Aura. The power of taking up exactly the space you deserve.

Jalwa is the Urdu word for aura, for brilliance, for the quality of someone whose presence simply cannot be ignored. And this shade reflects that energy in full.

Inspired by deep wine tones, sharp eyeliner, rich fabrics, and the feeling of walking into a city at night when everything is charged and luminous, Jalwa is for the moments when you are not performing confidence but simply inhabiting it. There is a difference. Performance seeks approval. Presence does not.

A berry-toned shade with depth and drama, Jalwa is designed to enhance and intensify the lip, appearing bold and commanding on deeper skin tones. It is the shade for the version of you who takes up space not because she fought for it, but because she knows it was always hers.

Beauty Rooted in Ritual

At its heart, the Rasa Collection is about more than color. It is about reclaiming emotion as something that belongs to you. South Asian femininity has long been asked to contain itself, to soften the boldness, to translate the warmth into something more palatable for a room that was not built for it. Sona does not ask that of you.

The Rasa Collection is designed to feel emotionally immersive, a world built around mood, self-expression, and the full, unedited spectrum of what femininity can look and feel like. Each shade is a chapter. Each application is a ritual. And the act of choosing the version of yourself you want to wear today is, in itself, an act of radiance.

This is what it means to be a Sona woman. Not arriving as the same person every day, but always, fully, yourself.
